We are pleased to announce that the Climeet tool has successfully passed the compliance audit for the Bilan Carbone® method by the ABC!
Since July, Climeet, the tool for measuring and managing the carbon footprint of events, has been certified as compliant with the Bilan Carbone® method, following an audit conducted by the Association for Low Carbon Transition (ABC). But what does this mean exactly? Find out in this article!
With carbon accounting becoming increasingly prevalent in France, it is essential for organizations to have a reliable methodology to make informed decisions and commit to a low-carbon transition.
This is why, in 2014, ABC established an audit to assess the compliance of carbon accounting tools with the Bilan Carbone® method, which was created three years earlier.
The purpose of this audit procedure is to contribute to the improvement and methodological robustness of carbon accounting tools available on the market. As a result, organizations and all actors involved in the low-carbon transition can benefit from tools that are at least equivalent to the Bilan Carbone® standard.
💡 Note: Compliance with the Bilan Carbone® method ensures that, with equal data, the results obtained using the candidate tool are similar to those that would be achieved with the Bilan Carbone® spreadsheets.
To evaluate these tools, ABC relies on an evaluation framework that details all the audit criteria. This framework is structured around four pillars:
To be recognized as compliant with the Bilan Carbone® method, a candidate tool must at least meet all mandatory criteria and achieve a satisfactory score (i.e., above 70/100) after a joint evaluation by ABC and an external auditor. Unmet optional criteria offer the tool owner opportunities for improvement and development for the future.
💡 Note: ABC is the only organization authorized to declare a tool compliant with the Bilan Carbone® method. You can find Climeet in the complete list of compliant tools on their website.
The "Bilan Carbone Conform" audit by ABC provides Climeet with a valuable opportunity to obtain an objective and industry-focused evaluation regarding the compliance and coherence of our tool, launched in 2023. This audit ensures that the methodology used is accurate and compliant, particularly concerning emission calculations and the use of appropriate emission factors. It also ensures that the platform fully embodies the Bilan Carbone® approach, including elements such as team awareness, the construction of a carbon trajectory, and the development of an action plan to reduce emissions. In short, in a very dynamic market, this audit provides our clients with an additional guarantee of quality and rigor.
The Climeet solution generally adheres to the methodological principles established by the Bilan Carbone® method. By focusing on a sector-specific approach, the tool simplifies the definition of the study scope, making the evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions more precise and targeted. Climeet uses emission factors (EFs) consistent with the Bilan Carbone® method, ensuring the reliability of the calculations. Additionally, the tool offers a number of unique functionalities and calculation assumptions, whose transparency allows for a clear understanding of the obtained results.
The Climeet solution demonstrates a strong commitment to aligning with the Bilan Carbone® approach and supports users in developing their expertise and approach through a comprehensive and relevant introductory e-learning phase. The tool stands out for its focus on raising awareness among internal stakeholders, analyzing results, and highlighting climate risks. The commitment to significant action is also a key aspect of the tool, as its scope is closer to a project than an organization.
Climeet's commitment to transparency is evident in the methodology followed and the emission factors used. Climeet is accompanied by resources that facilitate user understanding, thanks to the materials provided in the introductory e-learning.
The communications and positioning of the Climeet solution align with the messages promoted by ABC regarding the objective and role of carbon accounting, as well as with the messages related to neutrality as envisioned by ADEME. The tool emphasizes the importance of taking action and has strengthened its action module accordingly.
The entire Climeet team would like to thank the Association for Low Carbon Transition (ABC) for their support throughout the audit and for their constructive advice. This validation allows us to offer our clients and partners an additional guarantee of quality.
We are committed to continuing the ongoing improvement of our tool to better meet our clients' expectations and adapt to regulatory changes. Our goal is to facilitate the low-carbon transition for as many companies as possible and transform the event industry.
A big congratulations to all the Climeet teams for their dedication and exceptional work!
